Juan Gonzalez is a New York Daily News columnist, co-host of the daily radio/TV show Democracy Now, and a former president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. His numerous honors include two George Polk Awards for commentary and a National Hispanic Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award. Born in Puerto Rico, he grew up in a barrio public housing project in New York City and was a cofounder of the 1960s Young Lords. He lives in Manhattan.
