John Flanagan

Who He Is

John Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. After a successful career in advertising, he found his opportunity: he teamed up with an old friend to develop one of the only television programs produced locally in Australia at the time, Hey Dad! Also around that time, John began writing an epic fantasy for his son, Michael, in order to encourage him to read. The story would eventually become The Ruins of Gorlan, the first book of the Ranger's Apprentice series. John lives in Australia with his wife and son.
