Born in 1971, Steve Cole grew up in rural Bedfordshire in the UK. He loved reading and writing stories as a child, although at school his teachers often despaired of him — one of them banned him from her English lessons, which enhanced his reputation to no end.
While he still enjoys writing almost anything — from novels to articles to songs to puzzles — he has found his real love is for creating children's books. He is the author of the popular Wereling trilogy and Thieves Like Us, among other fiction and non-fiction titles. The Hunting: Z. Rex is his first book for Philomel.
When he's not writing books, Steve likes to spend time with his young children, make music and eat hamburgers.
