Alex Gigante

Alex Gigante is Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs for Penguin Group (USA) Inc. He was appointed to this position at the newly formed Penguin Putnam in April 1997. Before joining the company, Alex was for thirteen years a partner in his own litigation law firm, specializing in intellectual-property matters, with particular emphasis on book publishing.
Between 1982 and 1984, Alex was general counsel of Simon & Schuster. Before joining Simon & Schuster, he was a litigation associate with the Proskauer law firm for five years, which followed several years as head of a litigation division of the New York City Law Department.
Alex graduated from Brooklyn College in 1967, with a B.A. in American History, and received his J.D. in 1970 from NYU Law School.
Alex lives in Manhattan with his wife Christine, a real-estate broker.
