Downloading your eBook is simple; click on the "download this eBook" link from your Smart Receipt or email confirmation and then follow the step-by-step directions that are presented on screen. If you would like to download your eBook at a later time (not during this session), please click on "Register" at the top of the web page to create a profile with Penguin. You will then be able to download from your order history page.

Before downloading your first eBook, you must acquire, install, and register the appropriate eBook reader software on the computer to which you are downloading the eBook.
Adobe and ePub format will require the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software; click here for a free download.
Can I print my eBook? (to top)
No, eBooks are not printable material.

How are eBooks protected from free distribution? (to top)
Depending on the type of eBook software, the eBook file is either encrypted to a specific computer or device (meaning it can only be read on that computer or device) or it is encrypted to a specific user's account (meaning it can be read on any device or computer which contains that user's secret account information).
If an eBook has been protected for only one person to read, then consumers download the file to their computer and must read the eBook on that computer (or on other devices containing their secret account information). Copies of the eBook can only be read on authorized computers or by authorized users.
Our eBooks are digitally rights managed and can be opened with Adobe Digital Editions.ascm is the file extension used by Adobe Digital Editions to read DRM eBookssuch as ePub. Please refer to the Adobe Digital Editions help site for more information:

Apple Products such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch do not currently support the Adobe Digital Editions DRM used in the Adobe and ePub formats available on our site; eBook purchases from the Penguin Group (USA) web site can only be read on these products when read on apps that can read ACS4 protected books.
How do I transfer my eBook(s) to my handheld device? (to top)
Most eBooks are transferred to PDAs and handheld computers by "synchronizing" them with your computer. If you are not familiar with synchronizing your PDA or handheld computer, you should consult the instructions for your specific device.
Before you can transfer an eBook to your handheld computer/PDA, you must first download the eBook to your desktop or laptop computer. Click here for instructions on how to open your eBook purchase using a Nook, Kobo or Sony Reader.
The Adobe and ePub formats that are sold on the Penguin Group (USA) web site cannot be transferred Kindle devices.
