What is a podcast?
A podcast is a downloadable audio filemost often music, news, talk, interviewsthat you can download at will or subscribe to using podcast catching software like iTunes. Think of it as a radio show, without interruptions or commercials, which you can download and listen to at your leisure. The Penguin Podcast features book excerpts, news and interviews with Penguin authors.
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a subscription service tool that makes it easy to get podcast updates automatically in your podcast reader. When you subscribe using RSS, you don't have to constantly check the Penguin website for new contentyour reader will do all the work, checking for the latest podcast and downloading the new ones when they become available. This way, the latest news and updates from Penguin will be downloaded and readily available for you to listen to anytime.
How do I subscribe to the Penguin Podcast?
Subscribing is easy if you have iTunes. Just click on the "Subscribe" link and the Penguin Podcast will automatically be added to your podcast directory. Don't have iTunes yet? You can download it from the Apple website.
I don't use iTunes, I use a different podcast reader. How do I subscribe to the Penguin Podcast?
Podcast readers vary, but it should be fairly simple. Just find the function that says "Subscribe to podcast". When your reader asks you for the subscription URL, paste the following URL into the window http://us.penguingroup.com/static/html/podcast/rss.xml and hit OK. This should automatically subscribe you to our RSS feed.
How often will you post new podcasts?
New podcasts will be available at us.penguingroup.com/podcast every Tuesday, with a different theme every week. But you can make your life easier by just subscribing to our RSS feed: http://us.penguingroup.com/static/html/podcast/rss.xml
