Penguin Classics Discussion Forum Sylvan Barnet, the general editor of the Signet Classics Shakespeare, holds a bachelor's degree from New York University and a Ph.D from Harvard University. He is now professor emeritus at Tufts University, where he served as chair of the English department for two terms. Barnet is the author of numerous articles on Shakespeare, and of A SHORT GUIDE TO SHAKESPEARE, as well as the editor and co-editor of several textbooks. He has also published a book on Zen art, and several essays on Japanese art.
